2014 KIA RIO at 96k miles is a 1.6 l GDI engine. The engine is timing chain driven. City only driving expect 26-27 MPG. It has traction control, VSA, and many other safety features.
OIL Changes are essential and Syn oil is best along with a Kia oil filter. Simple car to work on and cost at 100 k service is half the time and 1/3 the labor cost vs the 2006 Kia Spectra. One easy car to maintain and small for easy city driving and spaces.
High Oil Consumption:
The 1.6 Rio (UB, SC) 2012-2021 if the engine is using oil at a rate of 1 quart per 999 miles. try this TSB. If the original owner and under 100k Ask KIA to perform the TSB for free.

Alternative: Try a piston soak overnight using a modified version of the TSB minus the tools/tube. Soak overnight evac then soak again for an hour and evac again. Change oil/filter. go with 5w30. TSB says so. I then used liquid Moly Oil Flush at 15 min idle and drained the oil and new filter refill with a syn blend. The dipstick was usually dirty sooty oil and at first, check 200 miles no oil use, and clear.
